DANN WITCZAK

Statement:
I am responding to nature not by imitating it, but by transforming its essential properties into a new visual experience. In the same way that light passes through the budding branches of spring leaves or the wind presses the surface of a lake to form layers of water rising, so do my interest lie in the vacillation between our perceptual understanding and nature's own physical reality.

Process:
Combining color theory with the physics of structural geometry, dowel rods are cut to various length, color values are then painted consecutively and inserted into a wooden support.

The physical projection of the dowel rod has been replaced by the use of dots and lines. These visual elements become more than the sum of it's parts in creating a link between science and art.
